After the heat of summer- Vata season arrives with a vengeance. Cooler temps, dry and windy conditions all contribute to our bodies and minds needing a shift in routine and yoga practice. Common responses to Vata season include insomnia, constipation, scattered thinking, dry skin and hair, feeling anxious and worried. Ayurveda provides natural approaches to counter the effects of the season.

Yoga Nidra Four Week Series with Allison Davis

Go deeper into your yoga nidra practice.

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep as it is commonly known, is an immensely powerful meditation technique and is one of the most accessible forms of yoga practice. While the student rests comfortably in shavasana (corpse pose), this systemic meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness. Practiced with consistency and awareness, you may likely discover a profound sense of joy and well-being.

Join Allison for a 4 week series where she will guide students in a gentle asana sequence in preparation for a 40-minute yoga nidra practice.

Discover the peaceful practice of yoga nidra.

Yoga nidra is an ancient but little known yogic practice that is becoming increasingly popular as both a form of meditation and a mind-body therapy. It is a systematic form of guided relaxation that typically is done for 35 to 40 minutes at a time.

Practitioners say that it often brings immediate physical benefits, such as reduced stress and better sleep, and that it has the potential to heal psychological wounds. As a meditation practice, it can engender a profound sense of joy and well-being.

This 2 hour workshop will introduce students to yoga nidra and its benefits. We’ll do a gentle asana yoga practice with some breath work to prepare us for a 40 minute yoga nidra practice.

Worksop is limited to 8 participants and is appropriate for teenagers and adults.

Kate Cleary is a Hatha Yoga teacher with 400 hours of training, and is a Somatic Movement and Expressive Arts Educator and Imagery Specialist. She is a certified teacher of the Tamalpa Life/Art Process, a movement based healing art, rooted in the fertile innovative fields of post modern dance and Somatic psychology.
