In 1998, Esther and a group of her friends started practicing yoga together. Once a week, about five women would move back the dining room table and chairs to make enough room to roll out their mats. They called it Kitchen Yoga.
Kitchen Yoga finally moved out of the house and into the current studio. Built with the earth in mind, the studio was constructed using recycled doors and windows and runs on rainwater collected on the property. The interior is painted using non-toxic paint that doesn’t give off any harmful gasses, and the maple hardwood floor sits on an elevated cushion to provide the best support while still allowing maximum give.
Small class sizes allow for teachers to provide individual attention. Yoga Vela also provides students with the props to be used during class.
Yoga Vela studio is located in Driftwood – near Wimberley and Dripping Springs – and a short drive from Austin.
